Assistance for District Administration Office- 2 March
NMA has provided a helping hand to CDO by providing and
equipping them their office space so that it can provide
smoother service to the people.
Installation of ladder at Island- 2 March
NMA deputed Nepal Mountaineering Instructors'
Association to install & monitor ladder at the crevasse near
the summit of NMA's most climbed peak- the Island peak.
Institutional Membership-3 March
NMA provided institutional membership to Mt. Everest
Summiteers' Club and Climbers' Club. Now, the total number
of institutional members at NMA is 12.
Scholarship provided- 3 March
NMA provided scholarship of Rs. 1500 per month upto
class twelve to two daughters (Ms. Tashi Sherpa & Ms. Nima
Sherpa) of the famous climber late Babu Chirri Sherpa.
Basic
Mountaineering Course 2010 - 3 March
NMA is pleased to announce that it has requested
Slovenian Alpine Club to provide 1 Instructor, Doctor- 1 and
Observer- 1 for its regular Basic Mountaineering Course 2010
starting from 16 Aug 2010
Certificate distributed- 3 March
Mr. Nagendra Prasad Ghimire, Secretary, Ministry of
Tourism & Civil Aviation gave away certificate to 84
participants of Basic Mountaineering Course 2009 amidst a
program organized at NMA secretariat on 3 March. The program
was chaired by Mr. Ang Tshering Sherpa- President, NMA where
as Mr. Deebas Bickram Shah, General Secretary welcomed all
the participants, journalists, members and other guests of
NMA. Mr. Shiva Prasad Lamichhane, representing trainees,
shared his experience of the training and expressed his
happiness to be included in the training course. The chief
guest wished all the trainees for better career in the
mountaineering sector. He also hoped that these types of
training will be helpful in producing skilled mountaineers
and will have positive impact in Nepal Tourism Year 2011.
Finally, Mr. Ang Tshering Sherpa- President, NMA thanked all
the guests present in the program and assured for the
continuation of training program in the future.
NMA
contributed for road maintenance- 12 March
NMA contributed Rs. 3,00,000 for the maintenance of road
starting from Eye hospital to International Mountain Museum
called Museum Marg. Similarly, it also contributed Rs.
1,00,000 for the maintenance of road called Parbatiye Marg-
the shortest way to reach IMM.
Women's
Open Rock Climbing Competition- 12 March
NMA technically assisted Empowering Women of Nepal by
providing three professional mountaineering instructors of
NMA to conduct Women's Open Rock Climbing Competition held
in Pokhara on 14 & 15 March 2010. The instructors were Mr.
Sunar Gurung, Mr. Damber Gurung and Mr. Pemba Onchhu Sherpa.
Recommendation for waiving royalty- 12 March
NMA requested Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation to
waive royalty fee for world cyclist Mr. Puskar Shah and
Extreme Everest Expedition 2010 to climb Mt. Everest in the
coming spring. Mr. Shah is scheduled to hoist the flags of
all the nations where he cycled during his World Cycle
Movement. Similarly, Friends of Save the Himalayas Extreme
Everest Expedition 2010 has proposed to remove garbage &
dead body and other garbage deposited above 8000 m. to the
summit of Everest.
NMA
endorses liaison officers- 12 March
NMA endorsed five Everest Summiteers to work as liaison
officers to Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation for the
coming spring on the basis of recommendation made by the
Everest Summiteers' Association, Nepal Mountaineering
Association, Nepal Mountaineering Instructors' Association
and Nepal Mountain Guide Association. The recommended
Everest summiteers are as follows:

New Rate
for icefall route- 12 March
Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation decided to charge
for the usage of icefall route as US $ 400 (Spring) per
climber and US $1000 (Summer, Autumn & Winter) for the year
2067.
UAAA Council Meeting- 23 March
The council meeting of Union of Asian Alpine Association
is going to be held in Bishkek, Krygystan from 21-23 March
2010.
Taskforce formed- 28 March
The ministerial level decision taken on 28 March formed
a taskforce under the convenership of Mr. Laxman Bhatterai,
Joint Secretary, Ministry of Tourism & Civil Aviation to
study on modes of promotion needed to develop Nepal as
attractive destination of mountaineering. The taskforce is
given time of 15 days to submit report to the ministry. The
taskforce is consisted of representatives from fifteen
deferent organizations. |
