The executive board meeting on 16 August 2010 passed Basic Mountaineering Course 2010. The notice was out on 13 August 2010 for the regular training program. Due to the overwhelming demand for the course, the numbers of application was three times the actual number passed ( 32 trainees), therefore with due discussion, the quota was increased to 42 trainees. But out of more than 100 entry forms distributed 80% of them passed the requirements. So keeping the performance level in mind and to see to the request and realization for an additional Basic Mountaineering Course along with the first one forwarded by Training and Expedition Committee on 16 August 2010. The executive board on 19 Aug 2010 decided to consult the treasurer and with the go-ahead from account department and along with the acceptance of own executive board, NMA decided to conduct two basic courses simultaneously this year.
NMA's annual regular program, the Basic Mountaineering Course 2010 started from 17 August 2010 in Kathmandu Langtang. 85 trainees with five foreign trainees are participating in this year's training course. The trainees are divided in two groups. The first group of Basic Mountaineering Course left Kathmandu on 26 August for Langtang. The second group will leave Kathmandu on 11 September 2010.
Central Secretariat Member Mr. Thaman Singh Tamang has been nominated for the supervision of Basic Mountaineering Course 2010. He left Kathmandu for Langtang on 3 September 2010.
