IIIrd Sport Climbing Competition- 2 Dec
NMA has decided to organize IIIrd Wall Climbing Competition
on the occasion of 8th Anniversary of International Mountain
Museum (IMM) at IMM, Pokhara from 3 - 5 Feb 2011 on Maurice
Herzog Climbing Wall. The final competition of the program
is to take place on 5 Feb. Instructor Mr. Prem Gurung has
been appointed as Technical Incharge for the competition.
Search operation of Chewang Nima Sherpa- 6 Dec
A seven member team led by mountaineer Mr. Pemba Gyalze
Sherpa left Kathmandu on 6 Dec 2010 for the search and
rescue operation of Mr. Chewang Nima Sherpa. He was on the
north slope of Mt. Baruntse fixing the ropes when he was
knocked over and down the north-east slope by the avalanche
on 23 Oct 2010. The rescue and search operation was being
coordinated by Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoTCA),
Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), Trekking Agencies
Association of Nepal (TAAN), Nepal Mountaineering
Instructors' Association (NMIA), Himalayan Rescue
Association (HRA), Everest Summiteers' Association (ESA).
NMA and TAAN contributed Rs. 8,00,000 ( Eight lac) and Rs.
7,00,000 ( seven lac) for the operation. Since the rescue
team could locate him in the himalayas, search operation is
to be continued in spring season again.
Plenary Assembly of IFSC -7 Dec
The Plenary Assembly of International Federation of Sports
Climbing (IFSC) is scheduled to be held in Rome of Italy on
25 & 26 Feb 2011. Since NMA is the active member of IFSC, it
has already decided to participate in the assembly. The
details of the participants are yet to be finalized and sent
to IFSC.
Request for renewal of membership- 8 Dec
All the NMA General Members are requested to renew
membership before 14 January 2011( 30 Poush 2067). The
membership will be expired if not renewed before the
mentioned date.
8th Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival- 13
Dec
NMA sponsored the first cash prize of US $ 1500 for The
Broken Moon (Brazil) directed by Marcos Negrao and Andre
Rangel screed at Kathmandu International Mountain Festival
held from 9-13 Dec 2010. On behalf of NMA, Ist Vice
President handed over the cash prize to award winner. A
Little Bit Mongolian (Australia) by Michael Dillon and
Shining Spirit: The Musical Journey of Jamyang Yeshi
(Canada) by Karen McDiarmid won second and third place
respectively.

Mera region rekei program- 15 December 2010
NMA 1st Vice President led the team of NMA for the Mera
region rekei program from15-25 Dec organized as a part of
their program on the occasion of International Mountain Day-

Nepal Tourism Year 2011 Torch Expedition Mt.
Amadablam 6,812 m. (22,349 ft.) -31 Dec 2010
Press Conference was organized on 31 Dec 2010 to highlight
on the expedition named Nepal Tourism Year 2011 Torch
Expedition Mt. Amadablam 6,812 m. (22,349 ft.) led by NMA
President Mr. Zimba Zangbu Sherpa. The program was started
with welcome speech delivered by Ist Vice President Mr. Nima
Nuru Sherpa. Director of Nepal Tourism Board Ms. Nandini
Lahe Thapa also handed over the certificates of Goodwill
Ambassador of Nepal to summiteers and other record holders
in different field declared for Nepal Tourism Year 2011. Ms.
Thapa also handed over the flags of NMA and NTY 2011 to the
expedition team to be hoisted at the summit of Mt. Amdablam
coinciding with the official inauguration of Nepal Tourism
Year on 14 Jan 2011.

Donation for porter shelter- 12 Dec
NMA Central Secretariat decided to contribute Rs. 15,43,351
from its local development fund to for Mt. Everest
Summiteers' Club, Rolwaling in order to construct porter
shelter at Chukima with the recognition of local development
committee. |
