Committee formed- 7 March
A committee was formed under the convenership
of chief of Tourism Industries Division, Ministry of Tourism
& Civil Aviation Mr. Laxman Bhatterai to publish book with
the information on 326 peaks opened for climbing. The other
members of the committee are as follows:

Eco leadership Trekking Course- 11 March
Kathmandu Environmental Education Project
organized Eco leadership Trekking Course from 7 - 11 March
2011 for tourist guides and leaders targeting Nepal Tourism
Year 2011. The program is intended to emphasize on
knowledge, practical demonstration and interactive
approaches to develop and equipping eco-responsible theme.
NMA has contributed two lach for the program from its
environment conservation fund.
Mt. Everest Base Camp Concert- 14 March
Himalayan Sherpa & 7 Summit Foundation is
organizing Mt. Everest Base Camp Concert from 23 March - 4
April 2011 with the slogan of Stop Global Warming! Save the
Himalayas! The concert is scheduled to be started form 23
March at Mt. Everest Base Camp and continued till 4 April to
address the impact of climate change in the Himalayas. The
concept of concert is developed by Mr. A C Sherpa of
Himalayan Sherpa & 7 Summits Foundation. Mr. Sherpa holds
the record of ascending the seven highest peaks of seven
continents in 42 climbing days. The basic objective of the
program is to make aware local people about global warming
and its effect to the environment and human life. The
concert will start at Everest BC from 23 March, 26 March-Namche,
28 March-Lukla, 2 April- Solu and end in Kathmandu on 4

Press conference on Save the Everest Mission-
15 March
A press meet was organized on 23 March 2011
to inform about the Save the Everest Mission in the presence
of Mr. Kishore Thapa, Secretary, Ministry of Tourism & Civil
Aviation. Mr. Wonchu Sherpa President- Everest Summiteers'
Association (ESA), Mr. Diwas Pokhrel, Secretary- ESA, Mr.
Ang Tshering Sherpa, Immediate Past President- Nepal
Mountaineering Association (NMA), Mr. Deebas B Shah, General
Secretary-NMA were also present in the program. The mission
is going to be conducted on the occasion of Nepal Tourism
Year 2011 under the initiation of n (ESA) and Eco Himal. The
mission aims to remove about eight tons for garbage from
Everest and its trekking trails and liberate Mt. Everest and
its surroundings from garbage by 2012. The program also
intends to develop sustainable mechanism for responsible
waste management, which can be replicated in other
mountainous regions of Nepal. Ministry of Tourism and Civil
Aviation, Nepal Mountaineering Association and other
national and international organizations are partnering with
ESA to complete this mission successfully. The total
estimated cost of the project is US $ 780,000. Press release
Visit with Tourism Minister- 17 March
The Executive Board of NMA visited with newly
appointed Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Khadga
Bahadur Biswokarma on 17 March 2011. During the visit, NMA
President congratulated him for being appointed as minister
and wished for the success of his tenure. Immediate Past
President Mr. Ang Tshering Sherpa briefed him about its
objectives, activities, training, International Mountain
Museum, International Mountaineers' Memorial Park. Finally,
Hon'ble Minister thanked executive board for the presence
and assured further discussion with board on other
mountaineering related issues in the future.
New rate for icefall route- 13 March 2011
The rate for the usage of Khumbu icefall route has been determined as US $ 400 and US $ 500 per pax for spring season of 2011 and 2012 respectively. Likewise, US S 2500 per pax has been determined for the usage of icefall route in winter, summer and autumn seasons.
Sankhuwasabha Tourism Festival- 22 march
Sankhuwasabha Tourism Festival is going to be
held on 1 and 2 April 2011 at Kathmandu on the occasion of
Nepal Tourism Year 2011 under the initiation of local people
of Sankhusabha residing in Kathmandu. The festival is
intended to showcase the cultural, tradition, local products
of Sankhusabha.
Financial assistance for Da Gombu Sherpa- 24
March
NMA provided financial assistance of Rs. 5 lac to Ex- Executive
Board Member of NMA
Mr. Da Gombu Sherpa his treatment of gland cancer. He was
also ex-convener of Training and Expedition Committee.
4th National Tourism Exhibition- 27 March
Nepal Tourism Board is organizing 4th
National Tourism Exhibition from 10 - 12 June 2011 at
Bhrikutimandap.

Industry Festival and National Industrial Exhibition
Federation of Nepal Cottage and Small Industries is
organizing Cottage Industry Festival and National Industrial
Exhibition from 20- 24 April 2011 at Central Exhibition
Hall, Kathmandu. The event is intended to provide
information on Nepalese socio-cultural, ethnic and geography
based products, potential natural resources of Nepal.
International Canyon Rendezvous
Nepal Canyoning Association is organizing
International Canyon Rendezvous from 7-13 April 2011 in
Syange, Marsyangdi valley en route the world famous
Annapurna circuit trekking. The program to be held first
time in Asia has the collaborative effort of Himalayan
Canyon Team, France and Federation Francaise de Speleogie.
175 canyoneers are expected to participate in the event.
Training on leadership
Initiative Outdoor Leadership School is
organizing trainings on Wilderness First Aid (3 days),
Advanced Wilderness First Aid (5 days) and Wilderness First
Responds (9 days) for interested the business professionals.
