NMA's contribution for the Summiteers'
Summit to save the Himalayas' at Copenhagen- 1 Dec
NMA
contributed Rs. 29,00,000 for the Summiteers' Summit to save
the Himalayas at Copenhagen organized on occasion of
International Mountain Day on 11 Dec 2009. The fund was
released from environment conservation fund of NMA as per
the instruction of Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation.
NMA President Mr. Ang Tshering Sherpa, advisor and famous
climber Mr. Apa Sherpa participated in the summit on behalf
of NMA.

Cabinet
meeting held at Kalaapathar-4 Dec
The
Government of Nepal held the highest ever cabinet meeting on
the Everest Base Camp on 4 December 2009 to highlight the
threat of climate change to the Himalayas ahead of
Copenhagen. The message was bold and clear - Save the
Himalayas. Nepal succeeds in stealing the international
spotlight by organizing the historic Cabinet Meeting and put
Nepal in a global picture once again for the good cause.
The meeting made the four key decisions as follows:
1. 10-Point Climate Change Everest
Declaration,
2. Declaration of Gauri Shanker
Conservation Area,
3. Declaration of Api Nampa
Conservation Area,
4. Endorsement of declaration on
Summiteers’ Summit to Save the Himalayas

at Kalaapathar

International Mountain Film Festival 2009- 7 Dec
Kathmandu
International Mountain Film Festival 2009 was held from
10-14 December 2009 at National City Hall and Nepal Tourism
Board. The festival screened some of the most recent and
exciting films about mountains, mountain environment,
mountain cultures and communities from various corners of
the world. NMA's central secretariat meeting held on 7
December donated US $ 1000 for the film festival. Press

NMA' Central
Secretariat released press statement in order to inform to
all the concerned about the present condition of NMA after
District Administration Office reinstated executive board
led by President Ang Tshering Sherpa on 19 November.
UIAA
Mountain Ethics Declaration released- 11 Dec
UIAA, the
International Mountaineering and Climbing Federation,
released UIAA Mountain Ethics Declaration on the occasion of
11th International Mountain Day. The declaration was
unanimously approved by the General Assembly of UIAA in
Porto, Portugal in October 2009.
Act. Chief
Administrative Officer nominated - 18 Dec
The
Executive Board Meeting nominated Act. Chief Administrative
Officer Mr. Jinesh Sindurakar for the training titled
Developing ecotourism by utilizing local natural resources
in Asian Countries to be held in Japan from 31 Jan 2010 to
26 Feb 2010.
Advisory
Committee formed- 18 Dec
The
Executive Board Meeting of 18 Dec formed Advisory Committee
of seven members under the chairmanship of Dr. Soorya Lal
Amatya. The other members of the committee are as follows:

Financial
Assistance of book publication- 18 Dec
NMA decided
to financially assist for the travelogue written by Mr. Prateek Dhakal based on the travel experience of meeting of
Union of Asian Alpine Association held in China in 2006.
NMA
nominated for Steering Committee- 28 Dec
Ministry of
Tourism and Civil Aviation nominated NMA as member for
Steering Committee formed for the formulation of policy for
tourism master plan.
NMA staff
elected as Secretary of UNITRAV- 30 Dec
The 10th
General Meeting of Nepal Trekking Travel and Rafting Union
(NTTRU) held on 30 Dec elected NMA staff Mr. Yadav Gautam as
Department Secretary of the organization.
Executive
Board Member's visit to IMM- 31 Dec
The
reinstated Executive Board left for Pokhara on 31 Dec 2009
for a three-day visit toInternational Mountain Museum.
