  e-News Bulletin
The Secretariat Meeting of NMA held on 12 February 2006 decided to launch E-news beginning from March 2006. The main purpose of e-News is to inform the activities and programs of NMA for the promotion of mountains and mountaineering in general. The first issue of e-News covers the activities from July 2005 to March 2006. e-News will be updated weekly in our official website and will be sent to all the general members, associate members and tourism organizations via email where as printed e-News bulletin will be published once a month.

Message from President- 21 March 2006
It gives me immense pleasure to share the news that NMA is launching e-News, which provides complete information on the activities of NMA through the prompt and an accessible means of electronic communication. I hope e-News will bring our members and other well-wishers a step closer to NMA. The members of NMA have access to the progress and activities of NMA instantly as they unfold. I hope your sound and creative comments and suggestions will be instrumental to improve e-News. Thank you.

Message from General Secretary- 21 March 2006
After many hours of brainstorming, and taking into consideration the requests of our General members in the last AGM, I am happy to say that e-News has taken its final shape. The e-News bulletin will be updated every week and will be sent to the readers on our website via e-mail. The e-News bulletin will be printed once a month and will be sent to all tourism- related organizations in Nepal, to all International Alpine Associations and to well-wishers all over the world. I would like e-News to be more interactive and informative with your comments, suggestions and feedback. This compilation of the last seven months of our activities in this first issue is intended to inform our readers about the day-to-day workings of the Central Executive Board Members as well as our Administration. The weekly e-News is subject to review and editing by the Central Secretariat meeting prior to its circulation through electronic media as well as in print. Thank you.

News of July 2005

Advisory Committee- 17 July 2005
The NMA has nominated Dr. Harka Gurung as Chief Advisor, while Rt. Hon'ble Lama Pasang Sherpa, Hon'ble Ms. Yankila Sherpa, Dr. Soorya Lal Amatya, Mr. J.B. Singh, Mr. Buddhi Narayan Shrestha and Mr. Apa Sherpa have been nominated as members of the Advisory Committee of NMA.

First Secretariate Meeting- 31 July 2005
The first Secretariat Meeting of the newly elected Executive Board Member was held on 24 July at NMA Secretriate, Nagpokhari, Naxal. The secretariate comprises seven members: Mr. Deebas Birkam Shah, General Secretary, Mr. Narhari Bhandari Secretary, Mr. Ang Kaji Sherpa Treasurer, Executive Board Members Mr. Ang J.P. Lama, Mr. Narayan Sunder Shrestha, Mr. R.P. Pant and Mr. Santa Bir Lama.

NMA- Secretariat renovated- 24 July 2005
The NMA office at Nagpokhari was renovated recently. The newly renovated office now include parking space on NMA premises, a green garden, four clean toilets, guest room, counters at the accounts section, and a reception and information centre about NMA peaks and NMA activities. The renovation was completed on 27 November 2005.


Nomination- 24 July 2005
Mr. Narhari Bhandari, Secretary of NMA has been nominated as Ex-officio Member representing NMA in the Executive Committee of HRA as per the decision of the Central Secretariat meeting held on 24 July 2005. Similarly, Mr. Deepak Poudel, Executive Board Member has been nominated to represent NMA in the Tourism Sports Development & Promotion Committee formed under the National Sports Council as per the decision of Central Secretariat meeting held on 24 July 2005.

Press Release- 25 July 2005
NMA released a press statement at the Reporter's Club, Putali Sadak, Kathmandu, on 25 July 2005 to clarify some of the outstanding issues regarding the Election of the Central Executive Committee, General Membership, Audit Report and the Statute of NMA.

Support to NMA Staff- 7 August 2005
The NMA Secretariat meeting held on 7 August 2005 decided to provide Rs.31,530  to our own staff for properties destroyed by fire. NMA has felt it necessary to give such compensation on humanitarian grounds.

Welcome reception- 7 August 2005
The NMA hosted a reception in honour of Hon'ble Ms. Yankila Sherpa, advisor to NMA, on her appointment as the Assistant Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.

Annual General Assembly- 12 August 2005
The Annual General Assembly of the Nepal Mountaineering Association was held on 12 August 2005 at Hotel Hyatt, Boudha. The NMA President, Ang Tshering Sherpa, chaired the meeting and Hon'ble Assist. Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Ms. Yankila Sherpa was the Chief Guest.
General Secretary Mr. Deebas Bikram Shah presented the Progress Report of NMA for the fiscal year 2004/05 and the policies and programme for the fiscal year 2005/06. Likewise, Treasurer Mr. Ang Kaji Sherpa "Kisan" presented the Auditor's Report 2004/05 and the budget for the fiscal year 2005/06. The general members approved the Progress Report and the Auditor's Report for the fiscal year 2004/05, as well as policies, programme and budget for the fiscal year 2005/06.
The announcement of the recipient of the Kumar Khadga Bikram Shah Pratibha Puraskaar-2004 as the first Annapurna summiteer Mr. Maurice Herzog and the Dawa Norbu Sherpa Parbatiya Paryatan Patrakarita Puraskaar-2004 as news anchor and host of many radio programme Ms. Krishna Tamrakar, was made on the occasion. Similarly, appreciation letters were presented to volunteers for making the Makalu and Kanchenjunga Golden Jubilee Celebration a grand success. Mr. Amrit Ratna Tuladhar, an employee of NMA, was awarded a gold medal and was honoured for his 25-year-long service with NMA.

A Letter of Appreciation was presented to those trekking agencies who sold the highest number of climbing permits in the fiscal year 2004/05. Thamserku Trekking P. Ltd. Himalayan Expedition Inc.; and Summit Nepal Trekking P. Ltd. were awarded certificates for being first, second, and third respectively.

Basic Mountaineering Training- 13 August-16 September 2005
NMA conducted Basic Mountaineering Training for 37 trainees from 13 August -16 September 2005 in Langtang. The training was conducted by instructors from Nepal and Slovenia. The General Secretary, Deebas Bikram Shah, visited the training venue in Langtang as a observer. The total cost of the training was funded by NMA.

Citizen Investment Trust (CIT)- 15 August 2005
The Secretariat Meeting held on 15 August 2005 authorized NMA staff to invest a part of their salary in CIT according to the regulation governing CIT, bearing no financial and other liabilities to NMA.

Euro copter issues- 15 August 2005
An ad hoc committee under the convenorship of 
Mr. Bhumi Lal Lama, 2nd Vice President, has been formed in regards to all the issues of Eurocopter landing on the top of Mt. Everest. NMA has thanked legendary mountaineer Reinhold Messner and Dharma Path Youth Club for their concern over the issue of the Eurocopter.

JOINTOUR- 25 August 2005

NMA has contributed Rs. 15,000 to journalists in Nepalese Tourism (JOINTOUR) to organize an interaction and training programme for tourism journalists.

NMA President in China- 23-31 August 2005
NMA President, Ang Tshering Sherpa, visited Beijing, China to make the necessary arrangements for the Nepal-China Friendship Expedition.

NMA- Representative in Mera, Khumbu Region & Langtang- 29 August 2005
NMA signed renewed MoU with SPCC to control illegal climbing and manage garbage disposal in the Khumbu region. Mr. Kami Sherpa and Mr. Thile Lama have been appointed on behalf of NMA to monitor illegal climbing, manage garbage disposal and cleaning on Mera Peak and in the Langtang region respectively.

Master Plan of International Mountaineers' Memorial Park (IMMP)- 7 September 2005
A MoU was signed on 7 September 2005 between the NMA and Architects Collaborate (Nepal) Pvt. Ltd. to draw up a master plan for the IMMP on 144 ropanies of land in Kakani.

Training in France- 12 September 2005
Mr. Shree Maharjan, Mr. Prem Bahadur Gurung and Mr. Lhakpa Kitar Sherpa returned from France after the completion of mountaineering training conducted by ENSA. The trainers submitted their training report on 12 September 2005. The training was sponsored by NMA and ENSA.

Kanchenjunga Golden Jubilee in Sikkim- 17-18 September 2005
A delegation led by the President visited Sikkim from 17th to 18th September upon the invitation of SAATO for the Kanchenjunga Golden Jubilee Celebration. The 2nd Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, six Executive Board Members and a Representative from MoCTCA were the members of the team.

Kanchenjunga Summiteers from Nepal, Mr. Phinjo Sherpa, Mr. Na Temba Sherpa and Mr. Serap Jangbu Sherpa were feted on the occasion.

Interaction in IMM- 23 September 2005
An interaction programme to seek the role of other museums in the development of the International Mountain Museum was held on 23 September 2005 at the IMM premises in the presence of various intellectuals, mountain experts, and museum curator. The Hon'ble State Minister for Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation, Ms. Yankila Sherpa, was the chief guest for the programme.

Fee for Picnic spot at IMMP, Kakani
Considering the influx of picnickers at IMMP, Kakani and to introduce IMMP to the general public, NMA has decided to rent some space at IMMP for picnic groups. The entrance fee for picnic groups and parking charges for vehicle are as follows: Picnic per group Rs. 300 / Bus & Car parking 
Rs. 50 / Motorcycle parking Rs.10.

Nepal-China (Tibet) Co-ordination Committee Meeting-23 September 2005
Mr. Zimba Zangbu Sherpa, 1st Vice President, participated in the 2nd Joint Co-ordination Meeting between China (Tibet) and Nepal held in Lhasa, on 23rd September 2005. The meeting was participated in by government officials of various ministries of His Majesty's Government of Nepal and representatives of the Nepal Tourism Board.

Aspirant Guide (UIAGM) Training in France & New Zealand- 26 September 2005
Mr. Sunar Gurung and Mr. Tsering Pande Bhote, instructors of NMA, completed Aspirant Guide Training in France and New Zealand respectively. Both of them submitted their training report on 26 September 2005. They are the first Nepalese to receive such type of high-level international mountain guide training under UIAGM

Free entry to IMM- 27 September 2005
The International Mountain Museum (IMM) gave free entry to visitors to IMM on the occasion of World Tourism Day on 27 September 2005. Documentaries related to mountain and mountaineering were shown on the same day..

Nepal-China Friendship Expedition- 1-2 October 2005
To commemorate the completion of 50 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and China, a joint expedition team ascended an unnamed virgin peak successfully, (5690m) on 1 & 2 October 2005 located along the border of Nepal and China. The peak was named Nepal China Friendship Peak.

A felicitation programme in honour of the climbers of Nepal-China Friendship Expedition and to celebrate the 50 years of the establishment of diplomatic relation between Nepal and China was held in Hotel Radisson on 30 October 2005. Mountaineers and distinguished guests from both countries were present.

Introductory Program- 7 October 20 05
An introduction reception was held to introduce NMA-Executives to Advisory Committee of NMA on 7 October 2005 at Hotel Radisson, Lazimpat.

UAAA & UIAA Meet- 12-15 October 2005
NMA President Mr. Ang Tshering Sherpa led an NMA delegation to the General Assembly of the Union of Asian Alpine Association (UAAA) held on 12 October 2005 in Singapore. Mr. Bhumi Lal Lama- 2nd Vice President, Mr. Narhari Bhandari- Secretary, Mr. Ang Kaji Sherpa 'Kisan'- Treasurer, and Mr. Lok Bahadur Khatri- Representative, Under Secretary at MoCTCA were members of the delegation team. Thereafter, the same delegation was led by Mr. Bhumi Lal Lama, 2nd Vice President in the Union International Des Association D'Alpinisme (UIAA) General Assembly held on 15 October 2005 in Singapore

Centenary Anniversary of JAC- 15 October 20 05
NMA President, Mr. Ang Tshering Sherpa, and General Secretary, Mr. Deebas Bikram Shah, participated in the ceremony of the Centenary Anniversary of the Japanese Alpine Club (JAC) at Takanawa Prince Hotel in Tokyo, Japan, on 15 October 2005. Mr. Sherpa and Mr. Shah presented a model of Mt. Manaslu, made of brass, to JAC.

NMA supports TAAN- 24 October 20 05
The NMA Secretariat meeting held on 24 October 2004 decided to grant Rs. 3,00,000 to the Trekking Agents' Association of Nepal (TAAN) to organize an Eco-Trekking Workshop.

Office Premise to Bagmati River Festival
The NMA provided space in the NMA annex building for the secretariat of the Bagmati River Festival. NMA has donated Rs. 25,000 as first prize of the Bagmati River Rafting Competition. The competition was held to create public awareness about the environment of the Bagmati River.

First Everest Women Summiteer- 30 October 2005
Women summiteers from all around the world gathered in Kathmandu to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the first ascent of Mt. Everest by a woman. The first woman Everest Summiteer, Ms. Junko Tabei, Ms. Pan Duo, the first Chinese woman to summit Mt. Everest; together with many Everest Summiteers from different countries such as Nepal, Den Mark, England, Iran, Ireland, India, New Zealand and Slovenia were also present on the occasion. Her Majesty Queen Komal Rajya Laxmi Devi Shah, graced the historic occasion and distributed a Letter of Appreciation to the Women Everest Summiteers. His Royal Highness, Crown Prince Paras Bir Bikram Shah Dev, and Her Royal Highness, Crown Princess Himani Rajya Laxmi Devi Shah, also graced the occasion.

NMA-Day observed- 1 November 2005
The 33 rd Anniversary of NMA on 1 November 2005 was observed at NMA-Secretariat in the presence of Chief Guest Ms. Yankila Sherpa, Asst. Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation. Women Everest Summiteers, Ms. Junko Tabei, Ms. Pan Duo, and summiteers from different nations were also present

The women Everest summiteers planted trees in the International Mountaineers' Memorial Park (IMMP) on the occasion of NMA Day.

Apple Project & Illegal Climbing- 2-5 November 2005
Mr. Ang Kaji Sherpa 'Kisan'- Treasurer, and Mr. Diwas Pokhrel, Executive Board Member together with Ms. Junko Tabei and large group of Japanese tourists visited the Apple Project at Chhuplung. Mr. Ang Kaji Sherpa 'Kisan', on behalf of NMA, thanked Ms. Tabei and the Japanese people for supporting the project. Mr. Sherpa and Mr. Pokhrel also travelled to the Khumbu region to monitor illegal climbing. They also discussed with SPCC at Namche measures to control illegal climbing on NMA peaks in Khumbu region.

Festival of Alpinism- 11-13 November 2005
NMA President Mr. Ang Tshering Sherpa and Executive Board Member Mr. Deepak Poudel attended Festival of Alpinism held in Prague, capital of Czech Republic from 11-13 November 2005 upon the invitation of Czech Mountaineering Association.

Fixed Rope & Fixed Camp- 21 November 2005
NMA Secretariat meeting held on 21 November 2005 urges not to put fixed rope permanently enroute or on to the summit of any NMA peaks and also request not to put fix camp at the base camp for not longer than the climbing duration.

Reception- 24 November2005
A reception program was held at Hotel Everest on 24 November 2005 in honour of Mr. Govinda Prasad Pandey for his appointment as Secretary of Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.

Welfare Activities- 9 December 20 05
NMA funded education scholarships for the children of Nepalese mountaineers and also provided financial assistance to the families of Nepalese mountaineers who lost their lives on Mt. Kanguru, Manang, on 21 October 2005.

Advanced Mountaineering Training- 4 - 20 December 2005
NMA conducted Advanced Mountaineering Training for 14 trainees from 4 December -20 December 2005 in Langtang. The training was conducted by instructors from Nepal and France. The total cost of the training was funded by NMA.

Int'l Mountain day observed- 11 December 2005
NMA displayed posters to disseminate information to the public about mountains and environmental activities conducted by NMA during an exhibition held at Hotel Yak & Yeti on the occasion of Int'l Mountain Day.

Reception-14 December 2005
NMA held a reception 14 December 2005 at Everest Hotel in honour of Hon'ble Ms. Yankila Sherpa for her appointment as State Minister for Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.

Lukla, Chaurikharka VDC- 18 December 2005
NMA funded Rs. 30,000 to construct toilets and water supply in the World Peace Park in Lukla. NMA has also contributed Rs. 20,000 to the development of a sewage system in Lukla.

Gorkha visit
A team led by the NMA 2nd Vice President, Bhumi Lal Lama, visited Gorkha District to participate in the Golden Jubilee Celebration of Mt. Manaslu and the celebrations of the completion of 50 years of diplomatic ties between Nepal and Japan. Mr. Deebas Bikram Shah, General Secretary; Mr. Narhari Bhandari, Secretary; Executive Board Members Mr. Ang J. P. Lama, Mr. Santa Bir Lama, Mr. Deepak Poudel, Dr. Hari Prasad Shrestha, Mr. Vijaya Gurung, Mr. Hari Kadel, Mr. Sarki Tamang and Ms. Kamini L Sherpa; took part in the celebration.

Gorkha DDC- 1 January 2006
The NMA Secretariat meeting of 1 January 2006 has assisted District Development Committee of Gorkha in the construction of a welcome gate at the entrance of Gorkha. The gate, worth Rs. 1,00,000 was constructed to welcome all the guests to Mt. Manaslu's Golden Jubilee Celebration.

TAAN, Pokhara- 1 January 2006
The NMA Secretariat meeting of 1 January 2006 has decided to support the Trekking Agents' Association of Nepal (TAAN), Pokhara Chapter, who received Rs. 100,000 to organize the Seventh Open Para Gliding Championship 2006.

MoU Signed- 6 January 2006
NMA & Alex Lowe Charitable Foundation signed MoU on 6th January 2006 to coordinate resources to conduct climbing training at Khumbu Climbing School in Phortse Village, Solukhumbu..

SAATO Convention- 13 January 2006
Mr. R.P. Pant, Executive Board Member led the team of Executive Board Members, Mr. Diwas Pokhrel, Mr. Da Gombu Sherpa, Mr. Ngawang Nima Sherpa and Mr. Lok Bahadur Khatri, Representative, MoCTCA, to the 2nd SAATO Convention on 13 January 2006 at Namchi, South Sikkim.

Artificial Climbing wall, Kakani- 28 January 2006
With financial assistance from the Embassy of the French Republic, a climbing wall was built at International Mountaineers' Memorial Park, Kakani. Mr. Henry Sigaret, French volunteer played a vital role in the construction of the wall. The climbing wall was handed over officially by His Excellency Michel Jolivet, French Ambassador to Mr. President Ang Tshering Sherpa on 28 January 2006, Saturday at Kakani.

High Mountain Rescue Training held in Langtang.

News of February 2006

Rescue Training-12 February 2006
NMA Secretariat meeting held on 12 February 2006 had decided to provide grant of 4,00,000 Nepal Mountaineering Instructors' Association (NMIA) to conduct High Mountain Rescue Training 2006 in Langtang. The training was also supported by Yves Pollet Villard Foundation of France (YPVF) and French Rescue Association under the Ministry of Defence, France (CNISAG) and Embassy of French Republic. Pondering on the importance of such type of programme, NMA is planning to co-ordinate an interaction programme among rescue related organizations to discuss the possible networking for mountain rescues in Nepal.

Amendment of NMA-Statute
A committee to draft necessary amendments in NMA statute 2047 (2053 / 2059) was formed under the convenorship of Mr. Harihar Dahal, legal advisor of NMA. Mr. Bhumi Lal Lama, 2nd Vice President; Mr. Narayan Sunder Shrestha, Executive Board Member; Mr. Indra Lama, Member.

Artificial climbing at IMM, Pokhara- 20 February 2006
In a mid programme organized in IMM, His Excellency Michel Jolivet, French Ambassador laid down the foundation stone for climbing wall on February 20, 2006 at the IMM premises. The total cost for the construction of the wall is funded by French Embassy.

News of March 2006

Fare well for Ando Hisao
Ex-JICA Senior Volunteer Ando Hisao and his wife were invited for a reception dinner on 8 March 2006 during their visit in Nepal. Mr. Ando worked as JICA Senior Volunteer in IMM.

Climbing Permit- 12 March 2006
The climbing permit for NMA peak has been redesigned. The new climbing permit includes information on climbing NMA peaks and Garbage Disposal system. The new permit will be issued from the new fiscal year 2006/07.

Mr. Dragon Chang Welcomed- 18 March 2006
A welcome reception with dinner on behalf of NMA was held on 18 March 2006 at Swagatam Restaurant, Chakrapath to welcome Mr. Dragon Chang a representative of Taiwanese Alpine Association. Mr. Chang and  President  Mr. Ang Tshering Sherpa discussed setting up Taiwanese Corner at IMM, Pokhara in near future.

New road to IMMP, Kakni- 19 March 2006
NMA has funded construction of 2.4 km road leading to IMMP, Kakani. The local people of Kakani donated the required land for road construction free of cost.

Mr. Miyahara visited Kakani- 25 March 2006
One of the tourism entrepreneur and well-known Japanese pioneer for promotions of Nepal Mr. Takashi Miyahara San visited IMMP Kakani with  President Mr. Ang Tshering Sherpa together with other Executive Members of NMA on 25 March 2006.

Member Secretary Sports Council visited NMA- 26 March 2006
Mr. Kishor Bahadur Singh Member Secretary of National Sports Council visited NMA and held discussion with the. President, the General Secretary, and Executive Members of NMA about the possibilities of introducing mountaineering activities in National Level Sports and international participation.

Slide show in New Delhi- 26 March 2006
NMA Secretariat meeting held on 26 March 2006 decided to provide VCDs of soft opening of International Mountain Museum and Mt. Everest Golden Jubilee Celebration for the slide show program organized by Indian Mountaineering Foundation in New Delhi. 

Farewell for Akira Takehana- 29 March 2006
A dinner was organized to bid farewell to JICA Senior volunteer Akira Takehana at International Mountain Museum (IMM), Pokhara on 29 March 2006. II Vice President and Convener of IMM- Committee Mr. Bhumi Lal Lama hosted the dinner along with Committee members Mr. Ganesh Gurung and Mr. Ghana Shyam Poudel. Mr. Takahana volunteered in IMM as JICA Senior Volunteer from 24 March 2004 to 29 March 2006. NMA is grateful for his contribution.

Suggestion box at NMA-Secretariat
NMA has put a suggestion box at NMA Secretariat. The suggestion box is opened once a week before the Secretariat meeting.

Committee for Ice Fall Route Royalty
As per the decision taken by MoCTCA, a committee under the convenerhip of SPCC has been formed to fix the royalty rate for the Icefall route. NMA is a member of committee including ESA, TAAN, MoCTCA.

Special Publication
NMA has published two special editions of NMA- Newsletter on the occasion of Annual General Assembly 2005 and 30th Jubilation of the First Woman's Summit on Everest respectively.

Pay phone at NMA
A coin pay phone is installed at NMA to facilitate visitors of NMA.

Kailash Parbat Park
Armed Police Force and NMA jointly renovated Shiva Mandir at Kailash Park in Kakani. Mr. Shambu Upreti, DSP, Armed Police Force Training Centre at Kakani played a vital role to renovate the park.

Mr. Tshering Tenzing Lama, Founder Vice President and advisor to NMA, passed away on 22 July 2005 at the age of 82. The NMA Secretariat meeting held on 24 July 2005 sent condolences to the family on the sudden demise of Mr. Lama.

The NMA Secretariat meeting held on 8 November 2005 expressed condolences to the families of all 18 mountaineers including the family of Mr. Iman Gurung, Chief Instructor of NMA, who lost their lives in the avalanche in Mt. Kanguru on 21 October 2005.

The NMA Secretariat meeting held on 1 December 2005 also expressed condolences to the sudden demise of Mr. Indra Bahadur Thapa, father of Mr. Basanta Thapa, Ex- Secretary, NMA.

The NMA- Secretariat meeting held on 1 December 2005 also expressed condolences on the sudden demise of Mr. Shambhu Sigdel, a member of the Discipline Committee and Commissioner of the Election Committee of NMA.

NMA Secretariat meeting held on 26 March 2006 decided to provide VCDs of soft opening of International Mountain Museum and Mt. Everest Golden Jubilee Celebration for the slide show program organized by Indian Mountaineering Foundation in New Delhi. 

Farewell for Akira Takehana- 29 March 2006
A dinner was organized to bid farewell to JICA Senior volunteer Akira Takehana at International Mountain Museum (IMM), Pokhara on 29 March 2006. II Vice President and Convener of IMM- Committee Mr. Bhumi Lal Lama hosted the dinner along with Committee members Mr. Ganesh Gurung and Mr. Ghana Shyam Poudel. Mr. Takahana volunteered in IMM as JICA Senior Volunteer from 24 March 2004 to 29 March 2006. NMA is grateful for his contribution.

Sit/Waist and Full body Harness are used to wrap around waist shoulder and chest. It is used to climb, rappel, relay, anchor and for safety line. It holds body when attached to safety rope. Harness is made of Nylon stripes.
