Donation received- 1 October
French nationals Mr. Mehdi Laurent and Mr.
Damien Huchet donated 12 points semi automatic crampons (Italian
made) to NMA on 1 October. The crampons were found in Dhaulagiri
area during their trek in the region.
NMA affiliated with NOC- 2 October
NMA has become the first association to receive affiliation with
Nepal Olympic Committee for it's active involvement in the promotion
of various activities related with adventure sports in Nepal.
Maoist leader visited IMM- 5 October
Maoist leader, the Central Committee Member, Dev Gurung visited
International Mountain Museum on 5 October 2007. During his visit,
he inspected IMM with deep interest and assured his full cooperation
for the promotion and development of IMM.

NMA Peaks renewed - 8 October
Government of Nepal renewed the authority of NMA to issue permits
for the 15 peaks categorized as Group A NMA Peaks for the next five
years.
US
Ambassador in IMM- 13 October
US Ambassador Her Excellency Ms. Nancy Powell visited IMM on 13
October 2007. She was very much impressed with the efforts of NMA to
conserve and manage the culture of Nepalese mountain areas and the
history of mountaineers.

NMA's participation
in Int'l meetings - 17 October
NMA participated in Adventure Travel World
Summit 2007 (4-7 October), Annual General Meeting of UIAA (3-7
October), Plenary Meeting of International Federation of Sports
Climbing (3-7 October) and Meeting of UAAA (3-7 October). NMA
President Mr. Ang Tshering Sherpa, Ist Vice President Mr. Zimba
Zangbu Sherpa, General Secretary Mr. Deebas Bikram Shah, Secretary
Mr. Narahari Bhandari participated in Adventure Travel World Summit
2007, Annual General Meeting of UIAA, Plenary Meeting of
International Federation of Sports and Meeting of UAAA Climbing
respectively. Representatives from Ministry of Culture, Tourism and
Civil Aviation (MoCTCA)- Mr. Dinesh Hari Adhikari- Joint Secretary
and Mr. Khadananda Dhakal- Under Secretary attended the AGM of UIAA
and UAAA Meeting respectively. Similarly, IInd Vice President Mr.
Bhumi Lal Lama and Member Dr. Hari Shrestha also joined the meeting
of UAAA Profile Publication Committee. Mr. Lama is the Chief Editor
of the Editorial Board where as Mr. Shrestha is the member of
Editorial Board. Members- Mr. Santa Bir Lama and Mr. Bijay Gurung
also accompanied them in the meeting.
Nepal bagged the
president of UAAA
General Assembly
Meeting of Asian Council of Union of Asian Alpine Association (UAAA)
held in Matsumoto, Japan elected unanimously Nepal as the President
of UAAA. Nepal is the founder member of UAAA and has held the
position of Vice President in 1995. UAAA is the umbrella
organization of 26 Asian alpine clubs engaged in the promotion of
mountain, mountain tourism and mountaineering environment.

NMA President made
presentation on Global Warming & Glacial Physiognomy on
International Mountain Environment Conference 2007 in Matsumoto.
Likewise, The Plenary
Assembly of International Federation of Sports Climbing (IFSC) held
in Matsumoto, Japan also approved the membership of Nepal of IFSC.
Previously, Nepal was the provisional member of IFSC. The
affiliation of Nepal with IFSC paved the way for the Nepalese to
participate in the international sport climbing events.
Phungi Thanga Bridge
completed
The Phungi Thanga Bridge, constructed with
the financial assistance of NMA, completed making easier in the
movement of transport in Khumbu area.
