Press Statement

This press statement is released by Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation to provide information on the rescue and relief management activities conducted in coordination with Emergency Control Center of Tribhuvan International Airport.

 

  1. Different Support and relief materials were collected from different nation, International organization and supporters which were sent through 18 flights at Tribhuvan international Airport.
  2. Today, 28 helicopters are involved in rescue and search operation. Among these helicopters, 23 (Nepali Army 8, Indian Army 9, and American Army 6) flew from Kathmandu and 4 helicopters flew from Pokhara to rescue and distribute support materials to different villages of Dhading, Gorkha, Sindhupalchok, Nuwakot, Rasuwa, Dolakha, and Ramachap Districts. During this rescue process 76 Nepalese injured people and 14 foreign injured people were rescued and total 30,980 kilograms of support materials were distributed.
  3. 6 helicopters from private sectors were also involved in rescue activity to distribute medicine and take medical team to effected area.
  4. Tribhuvan International Airport is operating regularly. National and International flight along with relief flights were operated.
  5. Helicopter from Indian Air force and American Aviation rescued the victims from Pokhara and also distributed relief materials at that area.
  6. American UH-1Y, Huey helicopter was missing from 12 May 2015. Search and rescue activities for that helicopter are going on by air ways and land but it was not found.
  7. Rt. Hon'ble Prime Minister Mr. Sushil Koirala went to Dolakha and Ramechhap districts for the inspection of the damage made by the earthquake.
  8. We noticed the news published in Kantipur Daily on 11th May 2015 regarding missing of American Helicopter. In reference to this news we would like to clarify that due to the huge earthquake on 12th May 2015 at 12:56 pm, airport was closed for the inspection of runway and other equipment till 2:50 pm but helicopter service was not stopped. The news that that all the staff left the tower is false less and request to publish rue and factual news.
  9. The distribution of support materials to the affected area will continue from tomorrow 6:00 am
