President Message

Warm greetings from Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA).

I am very pleased to inform you, after a successful completion of our election on 15 July 2010 NMA has a new Central Executive Board 2010-2013.

The only alpine club of the country, NMA has always promoted Mountain Tourism, conservation of mountain environment & landscape, throughout its 40 years history. In doing so, NMA has focused on training activities to produce qualified man power in the field of mountaineering, which in turn has helped directly in development of mountain tourism.

Keeping in mind that such development has not only brought about economic prosperity to the reason but also new & current issues that are linked to mountain tourism, cultural heritage & involvement of local population, (tourism as a whole).

In terms of promotion, NMA has had already taken up such projects like International Mountain Museum (IMM) in Pokhara, International Mountaineers' Memorial Park (IMMP) in Kakani. And it will be my pleasure to see to it that, I with this new executive board will further strengthen & promote such products which helps promote mountain activities of the Himalayas, the world mountain system, geological formation, flora & fauna & above all mountaineering history of Nepal & the world.

Honouring successful mountaineers & assisting families of those who have met with tragedy in the Himalayas are two hands to work on.  NMA will have to move on to meet all these challenges and develop new program & procedures on the current scenario to promote alpinism in totality.

Now, NMA is moving ahead to surve these objectives that are required to develop new mountaineering technique that are in demand of this materialist modern out doors adventure world.

I am confident that this team will look into all the matters involving NMA to develop alpinism in Nepal, and  to cater and involve the younger generation to promote himalayas & NMA project in the mountain environments & realization of risk & dangers of mountaineering activities.

Thank you.
