Mountaineering Training:
With an aim to promote mountain tourism as a safe tourism, NMA has been actively involving in the training activities intended to produce qualified and skilled resources. NMA conducts Basic Mountaineering Course (BMC) and Advance Mountaineering Course (AMC) in the month of August i.e. 15 August  and December i.e. 20 December annually.  BMC is conducted in cooperation with Alpine Association of Slovenia where as AMC is conducted in cooperation with ENSA.
 
Annual Training Schedule:

• Basic Mountaineering Course
   Basic Mountaineering Course is carried annually in August intended for the mountaineers to  equip them with new techniques and methodology on mountaineering and rescue activities.  The average duration of the training is 40 days with 10 days theory (Kathmandu) and 30 days practical  (Langtang). The required number of students for the course is minimum 4 and maximum 32. ITINERARY , TENDER NOTICE
• Advance Mountaineering Course
   Advance Mountaineering Course is developed for the mountaineers who have completed  Basic Mountaineering Course carried out by this association. The duration of the training is 40 days with 10 days theory (Kathmandu) and 30 days practical (Langtang). It is conducted in December.
• Annual Winter Aspirant Guide Training:
  NMA and Nepal National Mountain Guide Association (NNMGA) entered into an agreement to conduct Annual Winter Aspirant Guide Training annually for 4 years from 2008. We intend to provide this training to 6-20 trainees having successfully participated Basic and Advance Mountaineering Course conducted by NMA and obtained Ecole National Ski de’alpanism degree from ENSA, France. The training will be carried under the supervision of representative of International Federation of Mountain Guide Association (IFMGA).  This year, we have provided this training to 11 trainees.
• Basic Introductory Mountaineering Course:
  NMA in cooperation with Petzl Foundation, France conduct this training for mountain sports professionals in Nepal focusing on three fields: safety, environment and cultural approach from a practical and theoretical point of view. This training aims to provide students with a level of technical and practical knowledge to gain access to training courses needed for diplomas. The duration of the course is 3 weeks in 2 modules. The training is conducted in artificial climbing wall at International Mountaineers' Memorial Park, Kakani
•  Rock climbing  
  Rock climbing is practiced outside on rock or inside on artificial rock walls with predefined "routes" and it requires a great deal of skill and technique.
• Artificial Wall climbing
  Artificial Wall climbing is practiced on artificially constructed climbing wall with grips (holds) for hands and feet fixed on wooden / fiber panels for indoor and outdoor events.
• Mountain Rescue Training
• Female out door leadership training
  This training is generally developed for the ladies interested in trekking, camping and rock climbing.
• Aspirant Guide Training – France  
  NMA sends annually three students to ENSA, France for Aspirant Guide Training. The students to be included in the training must complete Basic and Advance Mountaineering Course with good experience in trekking and mountaineering.

 Minimum Requirement:

- English speaking
- Trekkers or climbers (Amateur or professional)
- Recommendation of Associate Members registered at NMA  (Mandatory for Nepalese only)
- Citizenship (Photo Copy)
- Passport size photograph – 2
- Personal Insurance
- Foreign Nationals are required to submit valid visa and passport (Photocopy)
- For Advance Mountaineering Course, the candidate must have completed Basic  Mountaineering Course

Training fee:
The cost of per Nepalese student is Rs. 7,500 and Rs. 10,000 for BMC and AMC respectively.
The cost of per foreign national is $2000 for each training. It includes food, accommodation; transportation in Nepal during training as well as in Kathmandu. The cost does not include personal clothing, equipments like boots, crampon, ice axe and medical expenses, insurance, air fare etc.

All the foreign nationals are requested to deposit 50% of the total fee in our following account to participate in the training.
