27-Woman Team Prepares for Ganja-La Chuli Expedition, NMA Bids Farewell

A team comprising 27 women is gearing up for the challenging ascent of Ganja-La Chuli (Naya Khanga). The Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) hosted a farewell program for the team, led by the experienced climber Ms. Maya Gurung.

The NMA Senior Vice President, Mr. Thakur Raj Pandey, Acting General Secretary Mr. Dhan Bahadur Gurung, Secretariat Member Mr. Rajendra Bahadur Lama, and Central Executive Board Member Mr. Pitamber Gurung bade farewell to the members of the team.

Senior Vice President of the NMA, Mr. Pandey, expressed his opinion that the expedition will play an important role in promoting Nepal’s mountain tourism. "Twenty-seven women are summiting Ganja-la Chuli. This will certainly contribute significantly to promoting mountain tourism in Nepal," added the Senior Vice President. "We wish for a successful ascent."

The team leader, Ms. Maya Gurung, briefly explained the purpose of the expedition. "Sindhupalchok is notorious for girls trafficking. This is why we initiated this campaign to empower women from the district," she said. "We are optimistic that this expedition will further validate our mission."

The team will depart from Kathmandu on Saturday and aims to complete the expedition within 15 days.
