This press statement is released by Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation to provide information on the rescue and relief management activities conducted in coordination with Emergency Control Center of Tribhuvan International Airport.


  1. 35 different nations had sent different support and relief material through 173 flights which are being distributed to the victims in the affected areas.

  2. Today, 28 helicopters (Nepal Army 9, Private 6 and Indian Army 13) are regularly involved in rescue and search operation. Among these helicopters, 21 flew from Kathmandu and 7 from Pokhara to rescue and distribute support materials to different villages of Dhading, Gorkha, Nuwakot, Sindhupalchok, Rasuwa, Dolakha, sindhuli and Ramachap and Lukla area of Solukhumbu. During this rescue process 341 Nepalese injured people and 20 foreign injured people were rescued and total 61,510 kilograms of support materials were distributed.

  3. On 26th April 2015, 6 more helicopters from private sector were flown to rescue targeting foreign victims and till today 305 people are rescued.

  4. Today Nepal army Helicopter distributed different support materials to the victims of earthquake at Kavre, Sindhupalchok, Dolakha and Dhading districts with the help of aerial drop.

 5. American Airforce has sent 4 Osprey MV22 airplanes and 1 UH1Y helicopter to Kathmandu which will operate from tomorrow for rescue activity in coordination with Nepal Army.

  6. Because of the parking capacity of Tribhuvan International Airport, it is opened 24 hours for the smooth management of rescue flight and commercial flight. In order to facilitate incoming of support materials, rescue flight is operated in the night time and commercial flight is operated in the day time.

 7. Mr. Deepak Chandra Amatya, Hon'ble Minister for Ministry of Culture Tourism and Civil Aviation went for inspection.

  8. The distribution of support materials will continue in effective way in coming days.
