Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) and Jugal Rural Municipality of Sindhupalchok embarked on a partnership for the promotion and protection of the area's mountain tourism. Amid an official event organized today at the NMA secretariat Nagpokhari Naxal, the organizations’ chiefs inked the MoU (Memorandum of Understanding).

President of NMA Mr. Nima Nuru Sherpa and Chairman of Jugal Rural Municipality Mr. Resham Syngbo represented their respective organizations on the MoU.

The MoU aims at promoting mountains and mountain tourism of the Jugal Himalayan range. The Government of Nepal has recently decided to open 5 peaks of the Jugal Himalayan range. That includes three peaks above 6000 meters in height. After this MoU, NMA and Jugal Rural Municipality will join hands to promote these mountains and mountain tourism of the area. 

The NMA president extended his happiness on the new partnership. ‘‘I initiated this collaboration when I first met with Milan Jee (Milan Lama, Chairman of the Jugal Tourism Development Committee). I am more than happy with this new initiation,’’ President Mr. Sherpa said, ‘‘I would like to thank all who supported us to make this happen. Promoting Nepal’s mountain tourism is our major objective. Now, we will move ahead together for the promotion of the mountain tourism of Jugal Rural Municipality.’’

NMA, established with the objective of promoting Nepal’s mountain tourism, has been doing it nationally and internationally since its establishment back in 1973.

Chairman of Jugal Rural Municipality Mr. Syngbo also expressed his happiness with the agreement. ‘‘Now NMA has also become one of the major stakeholders of Jugal Rural Municipality and we are happy to welcome you into our family’’, Chairman Syngbo said, ‘‘We are confident that this partnership will help us to promote Jugal’s mountain tourism globally. I would like to thank you all for this opportunity.’’

General Secretary of NMA Mr. Mohan Lamsal and Chairman of Jugal Tourism Development Committee Mr. Milan Tamang witnessed the MoU.

Senior Vice President Mr. Thakur Raj Pandey, Secretary Mr. Dhan Bahadur Gurung, Central Secretariat Member Mr. Rajendra Bahadur Lama, Central Executive Board Member Mr. Diwas Pokhrel, Chief Executive Officer Mr. Kul Prasad Rai, Chief Administrative Officer Mr. Jinesh Sindurakar and Chairperson of Jugal Rural Municipality Ward No. 4 Mr. Prem Tamang was also present at the signing ceremony.
