The 2023 UAAA (Union of Asian Alpine Associations) Sherpa of the Year award will be presented to the 2nd Vice President of the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA). 

This decision was anonymously reached during the General Assembly of the UAAA, which concluded today in Kathmandu. Ms. Sherpa's name was chosen for this prestigious accolade. She will be provided with the trophy tomorrow during the 50th Anniversary (Golden Jubilee) celebration of the NMA. The NMA Golden Jubilee will be inaugurated by the Right Honorable President of Nepal, Mr. Ramchandra Poudel, at the Army Officer's Club in Bhadrakali.

Furthermore, the General Assembly made significant decisions regarding the future hosting of UAAA General Assemblies. The hosting rights for the 2025 UAAA General Assembly were awarded to Iran, and Japan is set to host the 2024 General Assembly next year.

During the General Assembly, a UAAA Senior Member Committee was also formed, and Mr. In-Jeong Lee presented a certificate of UAAA Senior Member Committee membership to Tadao Kanzaki, one of the founders of the UAAA.
