The Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) has formally requested the honorable Prime Minister, Mr. Pushpa Kamal Dahal, to hand over the National Flag to the members of the Jugal Himal joint expedition team.

The NMA delegation, led by Senior Vice President Mr. Thakur Raj Pandey, formally requested the Honorable Prime Minister to hand over the National Flag to the team. The NMA team met the Honorable Prime Minister Dahal at his office in Singh Darbar.

A joint expedition team from Nepal and Korea will attempt to summit Jugal I and II, recently opened by the Government of Nepal for climbing activities. The team comprises 7 Nepali and 7 Korean climbers.

Renowned Korean climber Um Hong Gil will lead the expedition. The team will depart for Jugal on 23rd Chaitra 2080 and is expected to return after completing the expedition on 16th Baishak 2081.

Therefore, the Honorable Prime Minister Mr. Dahal was requested to hand over the Nepali National flag to the team on 24th Chaitra 2080.

The Government has also waived the royalty for 10 members of this expedition. In its last cabinet meeting, the Government decided to waive the royalty fee for 7 Korean and 3 Nepali climbers.

The expedition coincides with the 50th Anniversary of Nepal-Korean bilateral relations establishment. The NMA has also scheduled a felicitation program for the members of this team upon their return on 16th Baishak 2081. A special program will be organized on 16th Baishak to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Korea-Nepal relations establishment. The NMA has also requested the honorable Prime Minister to be the chief guest at the felicitation program.

The Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Civil Aviation, the NMA, Nepal Tourism Board, Korean Alpine Association, Um Hong Gil Human Foundation, and Jugal Rural Municipality will jointly organize the expedition.
