NMA Welcomes Chairman of Black Yak at its Secretariat

The Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) warmly welcomes Mr. Kang Tae Sun, the Chairman of BYN Black Yak, and his team to its Secretariat in Nagpokhari, Naxal.

Mr. Nima Nuru Sherpa, President of the NMA; Mr. Thakur Raj Pandey, Senior Vice President; Mr. Mohan Lamsal, General Secretary; and Mr. Rajendra Bahadur Lama, Secretariat Member, extended a warm welcome to the Chairman of Black Yak and his team with Khada and NMA souvenirs.

Chairman Mr. Sun was accompanied by Mr. Seok Koung Hoon, the International Marketing Director, and Mr. Bhim Gurung, the Nepal representative of the company.

Black Yak, a Korean outdoor company specializing in producing Himalayan-inspired outerwear with high-tech materials, has, at the initiation of the NMA, donated mountain gear to Icefall doctors of the Khumbu Icefall.

The company has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee (SPCC) and NMA to continue the support.

Following the MoU, BYN Black Yak will support the SPCC by providing various mountaineering equipment and gear to be used by icefall doctors and mountaineers assigned to open the route to the summit of the mountains. The SPCC annually employs eight icefall doctors and five support staff to set the Khumbu Icefall route.

Mr. Ngawa Ngima Sherpa, The President of the Liosion office of the Korean Alpine Federation in Nepal, Mr. Rajan Pokhrel, Editor of the Himalayan Times, climber Purnima Shrestha and Mr. Jinesh Sindurakar, Chief Administrative Officer of the NMA, were also present during the occasion.
