NMA welcomes Mr. Ken Shimizu, the country representative of FAO to Nepal

It was an honor for the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA)  to extend a heartfelt welcome to Mr. Ken Shimizu, the country representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) for Nepal, at its Secretariat, Nagpokhari, Naxal, today. The informal meeting witnessed the presence of distinguished delegates including NMA Advisor Dr. Ganesh Gurung, Senior Vice President Thakur Raj Pandey, General Secretary Mohan Lamsal, and CAO Jinesh Sindurakar, who greeted Mr. Shimizu with traditional khada and NMA souvenirs.

During the meeting, General Secretary Mohan Lamsal delivered a brief welcome address, setting the tone for the discussions. Mr. Shimizu expressed his admiration for the International Mountain Museum during his previous visit and commended NMA for its exemplary work in the field. He emphasized the need for joint efforts in mountaineering and outlined plans to collaborate on a mountain conservation project with a primary focus on addressing climate change. Advocacy and communication were underscored as crucial aspects of the partnership, aligning closely with the United Nations' goals.

Dr. Ganesh Gurung, NMA Advisor, further elaborated on potential sectors for future collaboration, signaling a promising avenue for joint initiatives. The meeting concluded on an optimistic note, with both parties expressing eagerness to work together toward the advancement of mountain tourism and conservation efforts.

This significant interaction between NMA and the FAO team marks the beginning of impactful collaborations aimed at preserving the mountains for the generations to come.
