The NMA takes great pleasure in honoring UAAA GA delegates, including the UIAA and UAAA presidents

The Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) takes great pleasure in honoring the Presidents of the International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation (UIAA) and the Union of the Asian Alpine Associations (UAAA) as part of its 50th Anniversary celebration in Kathmandu.

During the major event of the celebration held on 1st November 2023, at the Army Officer's Club at Bhadrakali, the Rt. Honorable President of Nepal Mr. Ramchandra Poudel and President of Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), Mr. Nima Nuru Sherpa, jointly honored the President of UIAA, Mr. Peter Muir, and the President of UAAA, Mr. In-Jeong Lee, with NMA Golden Jubilee Medals and letters of appreciation. 

Both Presidents have been long standing supporters of NMA's efforts in promoting Nepal’s mountain globally. During the Anniversary celebration, Mr. Lee, the UAAA President, also made a generous donation of $5000 to the NMA for organizing the event.

Rt. Honorable President also honored the Nippon Foundation of Japan and Mr. Cho Jin Hoo, a well-known South Korean photographer, with Letters of Appreciation. The Nippon Foundation had provided support to mountaineers and leprosy-affected individuals in Nepal during the Coronavirus pandemic, while Mr. Cho has been globally showcasing Nepal's mountains through his photography and publications.

The NMA also recognized all the delegates of the UAAA General Assembly (GA) 2023, presenting them with NMA Golden Jubilee Medals. Secretary of the Ministry for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Mr. Bharatmani Subedi, and President of the NMA Mr. Nima Nuru Sherpa jointly honored delegates of the UAAA GA and representatives of China Tibet Mountaineering Association (CTMA) on the evening of 1st November 2023 with NMA Golden Jubilee Medals and letter of appreciation.

The President of CTMA, Mr. Xizng, along with Ms. Danzeng Lamu, the Director of the International Liaison Department, and Ms. Cirenhuoga, the Director of the Logistic Department, were in attendance at the UAAA General Assembly and the 50th Anniversary celebration of the NMA, at the invitation of the NMA.

The NMA celebrated its 50th Anniversary (Golden Jubilee) on 1st November 2023, in Kathmandu, with a grand event attended by national and international dignitaries. The NMA also successfully organized the UAAA GA 2023 on 31st October 2023 in Kathmandu. The NMA coincided with the organization of UAAA GA 2023 as part of NMA’s 50th Anniversary celebration. 

A total of 25 delegates from 11 member federations, spanning 9 different countries, actively participated in this General Assembly. Participating countries included China, India, South Korea, Iran, Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei, Japan, Mongolia, and Nepal.

The NMA expresses its profound appreciation to all the distinguished guests who graced the UAAA General Assembly and the NMA's 50th Anniversary celebration. NMA President, Mr. Nima Nuru Sherpa, conveyed his sentiments, saying, "We are immensely pleased to welcome you all to our homeland. Your presence at the UAAA GA and the NMA's Golden Jubilee celebration has truly transformed it into a grand and memorable event."

The UAAA General Assembly delegates, including President Mr. Lee, General Secretary Ms. Christin Pae, Treasurer Mr. Hank Huan and President of Corean Alpine Club Mr. Gitae Byun also visited the International Mountain Museum (IMM) at Pokhara. During their visit, they observed the UAAA corner at IMM and engaged in discussions about its potential upgrades. Furthermore, they actively participated in a tree-planting initiative within the IMM premises, contributing to its environmental conservation efforts.
