April 9, 2024

The Yunnan Mountaineering and Outdoor Association (YMOA) has formally requested the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA)'s expertise to conduct high mountain rescue training for Chinese rescuers.

In a meeting held today at the NMA Secretariat in Nagpokhari Naxal, Mr. Zhangshi, Vice President of YMOA, and Mr. Tianjun, Secretary General, officially requested support for conducting high mountain rescue training in China. The meeting was attended by Mr. Thakur Raj Pandey, Senior Vice President of NMA; Mr. Ang Dawa Sherpa, 1st Vice President; Mr. Mohan Lamsal, General Secretary; Mr. Dhan Bahadur Gurung, Secretary; and Mr. Kaji Sherpa, climber.

The NMA officials responded positively to the Chinese delegation's request. However, they suggested scheduling the training for either June-July-August or December-January-February.

"Yunnan Mountaineering and Outdoor Association expressed a desire to conduct the training at the end of this month. However, it is currently impossible as most of the mountaineers are on the mountains for the Spring Season," stated Mr. Pandey, Senior VP. "Therefore, we have proposed alternative dates. The NMA takes pride and pleasure in sending Nepali mountaineers to share their expertise in high mountain rescue."

Before the formal discussion began, the NMA officials warmly welcomed the Chinese delegation with NMA khada and presented them with NMA souvenirs.
